May 29 - May 31
THANK YOU to everyone who came to Blue Pod's Awards Day! The kids all
did a great job and we are so glad you were able to share this special
day with your child.
This will be a short week for us as we wrap up the school year. Tuesday is Center Day. The kids do not need to bring anything special for this day. We will be spending all day playing in centers.
Wednesday is Field Day/Room Cleaning Day. Our Field Day time is 9:40 - 10:45. After Field Day and lunch, we will be spending time cleaning our room!
Thursday is the last day of school! We will be releasing students at 12:30! Cars and buses will dismiss at the same time. On this day, students do not need to bring anything with them to school. They will not need backpacks, folders, or snacks. You can also come pick up your child's report card on this day until 12:15. We do not want to send these home with the students as they will not have anything to carry it in. If you know you will not be able to come pick up your child's report card, or you know your child will not be at school this day, please send in a self addressed stamped envelope (with TWO stamps) and we will put their report card in the mail. Otherwise, please make plans to come pick up the report card. If it is not picked up by the end of our day, report cards will be placed in our mailboxes in the office. You can come pick these up when the school is open during the summer.
Thank you to everyone for a great school year! I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I will see you next year!

Dinosaur Dig
I am sure that you have heard a lot about dinosaurs this past week!
We had our Dinosaur Lab this week in the Blue Pod. We used our four
classrooms and our pavilion outside. We had an art room, a math and
science room, a puzzle and book room, and a dramatic play room. Outside
we got to dig for dinosaur bones! We used hammers, chisels, brushes,
and of course goggles when we were digging for bones. The kids had a
great time and found some bones. Enjoy the pictures!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Tomorrow is our field trip! We are so excited to go to the zoo. If you are a chaperone, please be in our classroom at least 10 minutes before we leave (8:30). We will need some help getting our lunches from the lunchroom and our coolers ready to go. Please make sure your child is at school on time! We will be leaving at 8:30.
On Tuesday, May 1st, we will have our last DIBELS test of the year. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before and eats a good breakfast that morning!
Progress Reports were sent home last Thursday. If you have not done so, please sign and return these as soon as possible!
On Friday, May 25th, we will be having our Honors Day Program and Brunch. The program will start at 8:30 in your child's classroom. After the program, we will have brunch in our pod to celebrate with each other. Each child gets an award and special treat from their teacher. This is an important day for the kids as we celebrate their accomplishments and completion of Kindergarten. I hope to have someone there for every child! Go ahead and add this date to your calendars.
As the weather gets hotter, we all want to start wearing our sandals and flip flops! However, please make sure that your child wears their tennis shoes to school. We have PE first thing in the morning and children are required to wear tennis shoes to PE, not flip flops. Your child may bring those to change into after PE.
Please also make sure that your child has a snack and juice, or money for each, every day. We've had a lot of children lately who do not have snack, money for snack, or they say they have forgotten their snacks at home. Please make sure your child has this daily!

Bugs and Butterflies!
For the past two weeks we have had caterpillars in our classroom. We have watched them grow from caterpillars into cocoons and then into butterflies. It's a neat process to watch and the kids really enjoy it! On Friday we let the butterflies go in our outdoor classroom. We also used materials from our AMSTI kit to go on a bug hunt! I learned that kids are NOT afraid of bugs! :-) After we picked up a few bugs we brought them back to the classroom to write about in our science journals. Then we let them go outside!

I hope everyone is having a great Spring Break!
Report Cards were sent home the Thursday before Spring Break. If you have not signed and returned your child's report card, please do as as soon as possible!
Registration for Kindergarten begins Monday, April 2nd. If you know anyone who needs to register their child for Kindergarten, please let them know of this date! You may also request 1st Grade teachers for your child next year. You have to come to the school to request!
When we return from Spring Break, we will continue our Easter unit. On Thursday, April 5th, we will be having our Easter Egg Hunt and party. The room mom's will contact you about the party if you signed up to help during Parent Report Night. For the egg hunt, each child needs to provide 18 candy-filled eggs. Teachers will get Easter baskets for each child, and the $1 is used to cover the cost of the basket. Please have your child's eggs and $1 turned in no later than Wednesday, April 4th! If you would like to help hide the eggs, please meet at our classroom at 12:00. We will come down at 12:30 to begin the egg hunt. We will start our party after the egg hunt.

This Wednesday, we will have our GOTCHA party. Students need 6 GOTCHAs now for the rest of the parties this year.
On Thursday, we will be taking our class picture. Please make sure your child is at school on time as we usually take our pictures early in the morning. An order form was sent home last week also. If you would like to order a picture, please send in the form and $10 by the morning of picture day.
Next Monday, yearbooks will go on sale. They will be $18 and this is a great keepsake for your child's Kindergarten year!
Next Tuesday, will be our 100th day of school! Your child will be asked to bring in a collection of 100 things. Things we have seen in the past are 100 pennies, posters with 100 stickers, 100 cotton balls, etc. Be creative as you want to with your collections! Also, a letter will be sent home later in the week asking you to help with our 100th day snack.
Continue working on blending and number words with your child.
We hope you all have a great week!

Report cards came home last Thursday. If you have not returned your child's report card, please sign and return it as soon as possible.
If you have a new phone number, please let me know! As we work on helping your child learn their phone number, we want to make sure they are learning the correct one!

January 9th - January 13th
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
I am so proud of the kids and how great they did on their DIBELS test! They worked hard and we are going to keep working hard! Good job!!
Last Thursday, report cards were supposed to come home. However, the date was changed to this Thursday, January 12th. You will be receiving your child's report card this Thursday! Please look over these, sign, and return on Friday.
Next Monday, January 16th, we will be out of school for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Next Thursday, January 19th, we will take our class pictures. You will have the chance as the day gets closer to order the pictures. They will be $10.
Please remember to send in a seasonally appropriate change of clothes for your child! Also, please make sure to write their names in jackets, hats, gloves, etc. A lot of these get misplaced this time of year and a name helps us a lot when we are trying to track down the owners!
